Raffle Randomizer
A simple company event game app with a CMS for managing prizes, participants, and recorded winners.
- NextJS
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- Windows IIS
- MS SQL Server
The problem
The company wanted a randomizer that matched the theme of the event, not a generic draw screen. The previous implementation was also easy to predict, so people could tell who was about to win before the name came up. Trust in the raffle dropped when the result felt staged.
The solution
A customized randomizer that follows the event theme, with a CMS for prizes, participants, and recorded winners. The draw uses the Fisher–Yates shuffle so each remaining name has an equal chance, instead of a pattern people could read ahead of time.
What I learned
The draw had to look like the event, but the shuffle had to be fair. I learned to use Fisher–Yates to randomize the winners so the next pick was not obvious from the old order.
